Kanu NwankwoPresidential campaign posters of Super Eagles legend emerge after viral April Fools report
The campaign posters were sponsored by two youth associations.
The presidential campaign posters of Super Eagles legend Kanu Nwankwo have emerged following a viral April Fools report.
Goal Nigeria on Sunday, April 1 published an April Fools report that Kanu had unveiled his intention of becoming the President of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Many though, took the story to heart and it soon became viral after several media platforms also reported it.
Campaign posters have now flooded the street following that story and the follow-up reports.
The ex-Arsenal, however, has no hand in the campaign posters which were sponsored by the Arewa Consultative Youth Movement and Ohanaeze Youth Movement.
“Nigeria needs a game changer, Kanu Nwankwo for president,” read one of the posters with the legend’s photo on it.
In a follow-up story, Kanu revealed his shock on how the April Fools report has been taken seriously.
“This is meant to be a joke but people haven’t seen it that way,” the 41-year-old told Goal.
“I think there is a need to inform them that it is just April Fool.
“My immediate concern is using my vast contacts and experience to develop the Nigerian youth through sports.
Kanu, for now, says he wants to keep focusing on saving lives through the Kanu Heart Foundation.
